Making the Holidays Brighter: Roosevelt City Police Department’s Annual Shop With A Cop Program

The Roosevelt City Police Department is thrilled to celebrate another year of Shop With A Cop, a cherished holiday tradition that brings joy to local families. Each December, officers step away from their regular duties to serve the community in a uniquely heartwarming way—by spreading holiday cheer to children in need. With each year that passes, this program not only brightens the holidays but also strengthens the bond between officers and the amazing families they serve. We’re immensely grateful for the ongoing support this program receives from the community, and we look forward to creating new memories with local children who may otherwise face a challenging season.

How You Can Make a Difference: Donate to Shop With A Cop

Our annual program wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our supporters. If you’d like to contribute to making the holidays brighter, please consider donating to Shop With A Cop. Every donation goes directly toward providing gifts and experiences for children in need, and every contribution, large or small, makes an incredible impact. To donate, simply send a check to the Roosevelt Police Department with "Shop With A Cop" in the memo line.

How to Recommend a Family for Shop With a Cop

If you know a child or family who could benefit from this program, there are several ways to submit a recommendation. This year, in addition to referrals from DCFS, local faith leaders, and schools, we’re introducing a Google form that allows community members—and even families themselves—to request participation.

We do our best to help as many families as possible; however, with limited funding, priority is given to those at or below the federal poverty line or those experiencing significant hardships. If we’re unable to serve a family, their information will be shared with the Sub For Santa program, ensuring they still have an opportunity for support this holiday season.

We encourage you to use the Google form for a faster and easier review process. A printable version is also available and can be submitted in person at the Roosevelt Police Department up until December 6, 2024.

The Shop With A Cop program is a true community effort, and we couldn’t do it without you. Thank you for helping us make the holiday season special for those who need it most. Together, we’re building a stronger, more compassionate Roosevelt—one smile at a time.
