Generic Press Release News Flash

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

On July 3, 2024, a tragedy occurred near Golf Course Drive and Areva Road in Roosevelt Utah that resulted in the death of a child.

On this date, several children aged 11, 12, & 13 were driving down the road in a golf cart when the 12-year-old driver made a sharp turn and a 13-year-old girl fell from the golf cart. She was transported to the Uintah Basin Medical center then Primary Children’s Hospital, where she passed away as a result of the injuries that she sustained during her fall.

As a result of this incident, the Roosevelt City Police Department will be giving more attention to the issue of unlicensed minors driving golf carts, ATVs, motorcycles, etc. on city streets. Roosevelt City Police Chief Mark J. Watkins has instructed his officers to stop any children engaged in this behavior. Parents who allow their children to illegally operate motor-vehicles may be cited, and the vehicles may be impounded.

The victim was from Texas, with family ties here in Roosevelt, and we are all deeply saddened by her loss and this senseless accident.
