[ARCHIVED] Water Line Material Survey to Start October 7th

Water Line Material Survey News Flash

About the Water Line Material Survey

The Utah Division of Drinking Water requires Water system operators, like Roosevelt City, to create a water service line inventory. This inventory will track the types of materials used in culinary water service lines to homes. The purpose of the inventory is to identify and document the location and material of service lines and, ultimately, create a replacement plan for all lead service lines or galvanized service lines that have ever been downstream of a lead pipe.

How Will the Survey be Conducted?

This inventory includes the entirety of the service line from the water main to the structure regardless of ownership status. As part of this inventory some service lines will need to be physically identified on the customer side of the meter. Starting October 7, 2024, crews will be in various areas around the City hydro excavating a small hole adjacent to water meters. Crews will begin work near East Elementary. Before starting work, our crews will attempt to contact residents to ask if you know the location and material of your water service line inside your home. If the material can be identified, we can avoid the need for hydro excavating.
